Cousins come to visit!

Emmy’s two cousins came to visit! Logan and Joshua (and even their mom) finally got in last night after their Chicago flights were delayed a day. We had plenty of snow of our own here to greet them, and they played for a long time today with Emmy! Unfortunately, the boys were too excited for naps, but hopefully they are a little more worn out now after playing for a long time. Emmy was excited to play – we forgot our camera, but we stole a picture from Beth of the three cousins! They’ll be here all week, so expect more pictures to come. Thanks for coming to visit, Beth!

Snow the New Mexico Way

Yesterday, while everyone was gearing up for their Super Bowl activities, Mother Nature decided to give us a little snow. I say a little snow, but this was more than that. Some of you might think that New Mexico is all desert, but there are plenty of us who like to live in the mountains, at high altitute – 7500 feet to be exact. Our pre-game activities included brushing snow off of the satellite dish, and the snow kept falling all the way through the night.

This morning we had enough snow for a two-hour delay from work, and when I got home Emmy had done enough staring our the windows that she couldn’t wait to go outside and play. She especially liked making snowballs and throwing them as far as she could, which was about two feet away.

We love the snow, but we hope that tomorrow the weather is good enough that Aunt Beth and cousins Logan and Joshua can make their plane flight from Chicago!

Emmy is queen for the day

Usually in the morning Emmy likes to play in the bath while I do my makeup (this is Julia btw) but this morning she cried and cried when I tried to give her a bath.  So then I tried to put her clothes on and she didn’t want that either.  So I asked her what she wanted to do and this is what she picked.  First she crawled into our bedroom and tried to get on the bed.  At this point I at least managed to get a diaper on her.  After I got her up she then proceeded to point to various items she would like…her cup, her blanket, all of the pillows and her stacking boxes.  Then she pointed at the tv and remote until I turned on Sesame street.  She picked, of course, the triangle episode and every time they showed the triangle crown she would put the box on her head like a crown.  Once she had everything she needed she gave mom the “you can leave now” wave.  It was nice that I got a chance to get ready while she watched t.v. but it really reminded me who the boss of this family is.

Emmy’s New Table

[simage=244,400,y,center]

Sometimes it seems that little Emmy gets more new things than both of her parents combined. We got this new coffee table for Emmy to play at (her physical therapist recommended we get something like it) and so far she loves it! Best of all, it matches our kitchen table and it was also the cheapest, sturdiest one that we found! Not a bad deal, I must say.

Emmy Knows Triangles

This weekend Emmy learned all about triangles from an episode of Sesame Street. We watched some parts of it many, many times, but mostly because I thought they were funny. As a result, she can now identify a triangle from a bunch of other shapes.

And now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for (the best part of the episode): James Blunt singing “My Triangle”, a parody of his song “You’re Beautiful”. Hilarious.

Emmy’s New Car seat

Well, the day has finally come! Emmy got a new car seat today at Wal-mart. We didn’t have a chance to put it in the car, but we got it all adjusted inside and she watched an episode of Sesame Street while sitting in it, munching on Cheerioes from her snack chair.

After Sesame Street was over, she used the chair as a climbing gym. Let’s just hope she’s as excited for it in the car as she is indoors!
