Halloween!

So I was really sick and wound up in the ER with a super high fever over Halloween so we didn’t do a whole lot.  Luckily Alex, Grandma Kath, and Grandpa Layman came to the rescue and helped the girls have a fun time!

Here’s Emmy dressed up like Snow White for her Halloween party at school.  Grandma Kath helped get her all ready!  Emmy was pretty excited!

Los Alamos has a downtown trick or treat every year.  This year it was the night before Halloween.  Alex and my dad took the girls for a bit but it was really cold so they didn’t last too long!  Emmy was tired of her snow white dress up so by this point she had changed into a sleeping beauty costume and Kaylee is sporting a super cool witch costume Aunt Christina bought!

I felt a lot better by the ward party so we dressed up and went!  Here’s Goldilocks and the 3 bears!  Daddy bear, baby bear and blinky bear!  🙂

Emmy and Kaylee were both a little dazed from all the weekends activities at this point!  What cute girls!  They got a lot of candy!  In fact right now Emmy is looking at this picture and asking me for some of her candy and there is probably some of it left somewhere in the house…

So this picture is kind of blurry but I just though Kaylee was such a cute little baby bear I wanted to share!  Happy Halloween 3 months ago everyone! 🙂

Big Kids Like to Have Fun Too!

We spent two of the days in California adventure also.  Which was really fun!  It had a lot of rides that were more for the parents (or big kids) too.  So here are some pics of all of us having fun!

This is the California Screamin’ roller coaster!  It shoots you on your way instead of cranking you up a big hill to start!  It’s pretty fun and we rode it probably more times than we should have!  Here’s my mom, dad, alex and I waiting to get shot forward!

Emmy and Kaylee loved a bug’s land!  It’s all designed to make you feel like you are the size of a bug with lots of big props everywhere!

This is a ride where you get to fly around in a box of raisins!  Emmy and Kaylee loved it!  Aunt Christina and Uncle Christian joined us for one of the flights!

Here’s Grandpa and Grandma Layman!  They paid for our family trip!  Thanks Mom and Dad!  We love you and we had a ton of fun!

Here’s Grandma and Kaylee admiring a big butterfly!  Kaylee loved all the statues and flowers!

Here we are about to get soaked on the Grizzly river run!  One of Uncle Christian’s favorites!  I think Annah pretty much got dunked under water about 5 seconds after this was taken! 🙂

Okay so this is a picture of a picture because we didn’t want to buy it but it was funny.  I hate being suspended in the air.  So like sky ride or ski lifts are a no-no!  Annah and Alex made me go on this tower of terror ride (and I didn’t know what it did for sure) that drops you several stories and then shoots you back up and drop you again.   Christina had already convinced me to go on another ride with a barf shield that shoots you up and I thought I was going to die on that one!  This one was even worse because you are in this cage thing and it looks like a solid room but all the walls and floor drop away at different times and you are looking out at the park while you fall!  It was crazy.  Here I am crying while Alex and Annah laugh their heads off.  BRATS!

Kaylee’s stamp of approval!  What a cute smile!

Emmy’s stamp of approval!  They had such a fun time!

Parades, Princesses, and other characters!

We got to meet a lot of special people while we were at Disneyland!  As you could probably guess Emeline was a little shy when we got to meet the characters while Kaylee was usually trying to destroy their costume in one way or another!  Here some of the best pics of the girls meeting their idols!

So to see the princesses now you stand in line for a couple of hours and then you enter their garden and get to meet three of them at once.   Even with the long wait Emmy and Kaylee were just so excited to meet the girls they get to watch in the movies!  We crossed our fingers the whole line that Snow White would be one of the princesses we got to meet because that is Emmy’s favorite at the time!  And she was!!

Belle is Emeline’s new favorite princess!  We have a book about her but since the movie is still in the vault Emmy had never seen it.  She did get to watch an old VHS copy at Grandpa and Grandma’s house over Christmas and now she obsessed!!

Kaylee and Belle!  It was cute to watch Kaylee get so excited about meeting the princesses just because her big sister was excited!  Fun!

Here we are with Tinkerbell herself!  She is holding a picture of Minnie dressed like tinkerbell that Emmy colored to give to her!  She also colored pictures for Minnie and Mickey!

Here we are with Minnie Mouse!  All the character were dressed up in their fall attire!  You can see Kaylee is fussing trying to pull Minnie’s ear off!

Kaylee loved goofy because unlike Minnie he actually let her pull his ears!

One of the coolest things in California adventure is Playhouse Disney live!  It’s a puppet show of all the disney cartoons that Emmy watches  on TV!  You come in to a huge theater and sit on the floor so that the kids can run around and dance.  Then they play music and have the puppets run around and they even drop bubbles and leaves from the ceiling.  Alex made fun of me because I started crying watching all the kids dance around.  Every kid in there was on cloud 9!  So cute!  I loved it!

“Please Dad, can I keep him?”

The parades were awesome while we were there!  Here are the incredibles in the Pixar parade!  It was really fun to see all the pixar characters!

This picture cracks me up!  It totally captures Emeline’s emotion during the parade!

Emmy had a great time at the Celebrate Parade!  She got picked to have a drum and picked to dance in a conga line with the dancers in the middle!  It was so exciting because before we went Alex had showed her a video of the parades and she asked if she could be in the parade too.  Alex said that we would just watch the disney people be in the parade!  But then she got to dance out in the middle!  So she showed Daddy!  🙂

Alex took this picture of all the confetti they throw on you during the parade!  I thought it looked really neat with the big Mickey balloon in back!

Alright,  I think I have it narrowed down to just one more post!  More later!

Disneyland part the second

So last post I talked about Emmy’s favorites so I thought I’d show some of Miss Kaylee’s favorites this time!

One of her favorite rides was “It’s a small world”!  Emmy loved it too.  Kaylee thought that anything where you rode on a boat was totally awesome!

Here she is with mouth wide open staring at all the singing dolls!  Those of you who know Kaylee know she doesn’t stay still for long but It’s a small world kept her still with awe!

Here’s Emmy riding one of the carousels.  There is King Arthur’s horse carousel in Disneyland and King Triten’s under the sea carousel in California adventure.  Both girls loved these!

Here’s Kaylee and Grandpa on the carousel too!  She would pat her horses head and kick her legs the whole time she was on there!  This carousel was right next to the big roller coaster in California adventure.  So the girls got to ride it about 15 times while the adults took turns on the roller coaster!

Here’s Kaylee in a teacup like ride that they have in California adventure.  Think she is having a good time?

Here is Kaylee with her Aunt Annah on the riverboat in Disneyland.  Kaylee loved it because again it was a boat…and boats are awesome!

Okay, still more to come!

Disneyland Part 1

Well, as some of you may remember we went to Disneyland way back in 2009!  (Happy new year by the way!)  Anyway, after many hours of sorting through the over 2,000 pictures we have finally organized everything and are glad to bring you….Our DISNEYLAND BLOG POST! Ta Da…

Here’s the main gate all decorated for Halloween!  Emmy was so excited that we went in the gate right under Minnie!

Here we are just about to go in!  The girls are cut out of this pic…but don’t you worry!  There are many many many pics of them to come!

Emmy wanted to head straight to the teacups so we went straight to fantasyland!  The girls loved the big castle entrance!

Here we after the first ride on the teacups!  Despite Kaylee’s scowl in this pic they both loved it!!

Another ride on the teacups with Grandma, Uncle Christian and Aunt Christina!

Here we are after yet another ride on the teacups!  Emmy could have played on them all day!  The adults had to take turns though!  She even got her daddy to ride them once on the very last day!  (He gets a little tipsy when he rides the teacups!)

Okay, so this is the face Emmy made the whole ride!  This is her telling everyone to make it spin faster!  You can imagine how cute it was!!  She had a ton of fun!

After the teacups it was straight to the Dumbo ride!  Emmy had seen this ride on Jon and Kate plus 8 back when the show was fun to watch.  She has been wanting to fly Dumbo ever since!  Here is Kaylee with Aunt Christina and Mommy!  She loved every ride…she is totally fearless!

Here’s Emmy with Uncle Christian and Daddy.  Big Smiles!  She would fly Dumbo all the way up to the top and then just let him stay there! She liked being able to see the whole park!

So this was taken right after we rode on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride!  I loved this ride when I was little but didn’t remember how scary it is at the end (aka, he crashes his car and ends up in Hell)  Oops!  Emmy was not exactly a fan as you can see in this pic!  Kaylee on the other hand was laughing the whole time and was pumped up and ready to go!

Back to Dumbo to make amends for Mr. Toad and peter pan (which Emmy also hated and Kaylee doubly loved!)

More Disneyland posts will be coming soon!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled post…

Hey everyone! Alex is writing a blog post… or more of an apology, actually. So we promised a post about Disneyland, but we’ve been distracted. Mostly it was me distracting Julia and taking over the computer.

You see, the new version of Picasa, Google’s free image organizing/editing software has something called face recognition. This basically means that you can organize all your photos according to the faces in the picture. For example, Emmy has something like two thousand pictures on our computer, and Kaylee has about a thousand (the second child is always overlooked, right Kaylee?). Anyway, it is somewhat addictive to organize your pictures this way, especially when there are tens of thousands of faces embedded in countless pictures. You see funny things, too: the software for some reason thinks that Emmy and Kaylee look just like their cousins Logan and Joshua, which is true if you look at them a certain way.

Anyway, what this means for all of you is that you can’t see all of our amazing Disneyland pictures. I left a few teasers on my Facebook page, but you have to be my friend (or Julia’s friend) on Facebook to see them. In the mean time we’re busy playing around with Picasa and looking at all the pictures of our beautiful girls. I imagine we’ll have our Disneyland pictures on here any day now… as soon as we’re done playing around in Picasa.
