FINALLY…

So we finally got all of our pictures re-sized and organized so I can do all my December blog posts!! YEAH! So, even though I already did a post on Kaylee’s birth I wanted to share the rest of the hospital pics.  Hope you all enjoy! I know there are a TON of pictures…but I slimmed them down as much as I could…you know how it is! 🙂

Kaylee’s First photo!! So cute!

Mom meeting Kaylee

Dad Meeting Kaylee (Alex is teary eyed…success)

Grandma Layman meeting Kaylee (my mom was there for the birth)

I was so excited to take this picture!  We didn’t get to take one like this with Emmy (for obvious reasons)  So I kept telling Alex, I just want everything to go well with the birth and then we can take one of those pictures where we look at each other all cheesy like and smile into the camera!  And we did!

Emmy had a doctor’s appointment downstairs that day so she got to meet Kaylee within minutes of her being born!  She isn’t quite sure what to make of the baby on mom’s lap in this picture!

Emmy wanted to hold Kaylee immediately.  I looks like Kaylee is screaming but it’s just a yawn.  Emmy was so excited for her new sister!! The first thing she said to her was “Hi baby, want to go home?”  Which was then followed by “Want some milk?”.  Then she felt that Kaylee  wasn’t wearing a diaper yet and said “Want a diaper?”  What a good little helper! The first thing she said when we got home was “Okay Kaylee, come play dolls with me”…Just a few more months!

Emmy and Aunt Annah brought Kaylee a surprise from the gift shop too!!

Aunt Annah meets Kaylee

Grandma Kath meets Kaylee

Kath only got about 10 seconds of holding Kaylee before Emmy NEEDED to sit on her lap too!!

Uncle Christian meets Kaylee

Just needed another picture of Jabba the Mom (Don’t you just love post-birth pictures…everyone gets to look cute except the mom)

Grandpa Layman meets Kaylee

SO FUN!  When the nurses got done weighing and measuring her they dressed her up in a Christmas stocking and gave her this little hat!

Grandpa Baker meets Kaylee!

Uncle Ray meets Kaylee!

The Fabulous Baker Girls

My dad was feeling sick the day that Kaylee was born.  So he came for a special visit the next day so that he could finally hold her!

Alex had finals all week so he didn’t stay with us in the hospital.  But Emmy and Daddy visited each day!  They were looking particularly Christmas-y this day so we snapped a picture!

Sisters have lots of important things to talk about!

Emmy eating a bagel!

Kaylee eating her fist!

Guess the Baby

So today at church everyone kept saying how much Kaylee looks like Emmy.  I was looking through some of Emmy’s baby pictures and I realized they are right!  Can you tell who is who?  If you guess right you get a gold  star! I promise these are different babies!

Kaylee is already 1 month old!!

So I know that I am skipping over all my holiday pictures…but again, I need Alex’s help in uploading all of those!  In the meantime I wanted to post some new cute pictures of miss Kaylee!  She is now 10 lbs. 1 oz. (exactly 2 pounds bigger than birth) and is 22 inches long!  She is doing so well and is such a mellow baby!  Emmy is still loving being an older sister and helps mommy out a lot!

Kaylee’s Birth (A mother’s perspective)

img_2868

So Alex got to tell most of the story already but I thought I’d do my own blog post about how everything went!  It was a cold an snowy night….haha.  It really was though!  There was a giant snowstorm on the 15th and 16th and I was all worried we wouldn’t get to the hospital okay so Alex would get up in the middle of the night and shovel the car out just in case!  I had been having contractions every ten minutes for about 2 days so finally on my appointment on the 16th (5 days after Kaylee was due) I asked Dr. Combs to break my water and get things started.  So we went in that night and they hooked me up to the monitors and got me all checked in to have the baby the next day.  Alex had a final the next morning at 9:00 so Annah stayed in the hospital with me. Around 4 oclock I woke up and my contractions were like 5 minutes apart and getting harder.  So the nurse checked me around 6 in the morning and I had already dilated to a 4 by myself.  So they broke my water around 9 and gave me a little pitocin and a nice little epidural around 11:00 and we were ready to roll! Alex got done with his final at 11:30 and rushed over to the hospital.  My mom had come to stay with me that morning and so I asked her if she wanted to stay for the birth!  It was really neat to have her there with Alex and I.  I started pushing around one  and apparently I yelled a lot of silly things and I kept saying that someone was going to have to think of another way to get her out.  But after 40 minutes of pushing she came the old fashioned way and I was soooo relieved to hear a nice healthy cry right away!  (Since we didn’t hear that with Emmy) Anyway, Kaylee was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 20 inches even.

Since Kaylee was a little postmature there was a lot of meconium in the water and she had swallowed a lot so they suctioned her out really good and things were fine.  She had a lot down in her nose though so she wasn’t breathing as well as they wanted. So they put her on some oxygen for a few days and we finally got to come home on the 20th!

It was so great to experience what childbirth can be like when there isn’t a major emergency!  Emmy actually had a doctor’s appointment downstairs while I was in labor.  Since Alex and I were a little busy she went with Annah and got her new orthodics fit to her feet.  She finished up about 5 minutes after Kaylee was born so she got to come up and see her!  She was so excited.  At first she was  a little timid.  So we put her and Kaylee both on daddy’s lap and she gave her a big hug and kiss.  Then she asked Kaylee if she wanted to go home.  Wanted some milk.  Wanted a diaper.  Etc.  She is a great big sister!  When we got home the first thing she said was “Kaylee come play dolls with me” so we had to explain it would be a little while before Kaylee would be able to play with Emmy’s toys.  But it was nice that Emmy wanted to share!

After Kaylee met her big sister she got to meet all of her grandparents and Aunt Annah, Uncle Christian and Uncle Ray.  Aunt Beth, Uncle Nathan, Logan, Joshua, and Aunt Christina came to see her when they got in to town for Christmas.  It was really fun to have so many family members there!

Well, I wanted to put the hopital pictures in here but all the hospital pictures were taken with my mom’s camera and I’m having trouble getting them to upload so I’ll have to add them later…and by me, I mean Alex will add them later!

Pregnant!

So I wanted a new facebook profile picture but I’m always the one taking the pictures so I couldn’t find one of me.  So I decided to let Alex take a good pregnancy picture of me.   I still have some people who say “I didn’t know you were expecting”!  Which is really funny…becuase I looked pregnant at like 3 months when I was pregnant with Emmy and I only have 1 month to go with Kaylee (Woohoo!).  Anyway, so I’ve been trying to dress more pregnant like so people will know that I am expecting and not just getting giant!  I think this black shirt pretty much screams….PREGNANT! 🙂

Halloween

Emmy’s Aunt Christina bought this witch outfit for her birthday!  It’s super flashy because it’s straight from the Vegas strip!! 🙂 Every year Los Alamos businesses pass out candy outside their stores so that is where most people go trick or treating.  We took Emmy to the banks and some of the stores and her little pail was pretty much filled with candy!  She was super excited before and after but while we out she just looked totally dazed!  She couldn’t take it all in fast enough!  Afterward we went over to my dad’s and watched a movie.  Emmy told Grandpa all about trick or treating and even convinced him to let her have some more candy!

So I got this idea out of a little halloween recipe and craft book my mom got me!  They are pretty cute.  But funny story: So we kept calling them Mummy dogs but Emmy doesn’t know what a mummy is.  She thought they were really awesome when we pulled them out of the oven but she wouldn’t eat any and she just kept saying “mom” over and over again.  So we finally figured out she thought they were “Mommy dogs” and she didn’t want to eat mommy.  We finally convinced her it was okay and so she gobbled it up!  Anyway, she is funny!
