“Bed”time

So while I was putting Emmy down one night Kaylee fell asleep in Alex’s arms.  Since Emmy was still being pretty rowdy Alex laid Kaylee down in the office and she slept on the floor for a few minutes.  So we took a picture because she looked so cute!

Then, when Emmy finally quieted down we figured it was safe to bring Kaylee into their bedroom and this is what we found…

Two girls asleep on the floor!  If only their parents would buy them some beds or something! 🙂

Vegas!

For Christmas Kath gave us all certificates for airplane flights.  Alex and I had been planning on using them for our anniversary next year but then we found out they expired before then SO we decided to use them early!  We looked for the shortest and most available flights and ended up with Las Vegas!  We had never been before so we thought it would be fun!  It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun!  Thanks KATH!!

Here are the girls at the window with Uncle Christian as Alex and I were leaving to head to the airport!

Another reason we chose Vegas was because of the good hotel deals!  We stayed in the Luxor for $30 a night!

Alex’s favorite part of the trip was going to the ESPN zone in New York New York.  Your table comes equipped with surround sound and a flat screen HD TV on the table!  Then you look out to a giant wall of big screen TVs each with a different sporting event to chose from.  Then you can pick which you want to listen to and tune your own tv into the game!  Plus the menu is a bunch of giant hamburgers! I have to admit it was pretty cool…but for Alex it was more like paradise!

I totally look dazed this picture!  But here we are at the ESPN ZONE!  You can see the reflection of the TVs in the glass behind us and that giant metal around the booth is a giant speaker!

“I wish I were big!”  That is such an awesome movie we had to take a picture with the fortune teller!

We went to FAO Schwartz in Caesar’s.  It was really fun to look around at.  Here’s Alex wearing his birthday princess hat!

Here’s a picture at the Venetian.  We had planned on taking a gondola ride there but since it turned out to be 16 dollars a person we decided to just take a picture instead!  For Free!

So this picture was from the pirate show at Treasure Island.  Funny story though!  This used to be the street show you could take your family to see and stuff because it was just two pirate ships blowing each other up.  But apparently they “jazzed” it up a bit since most people saw it…so now, instead of pirates fighting pirates they are fighting sirens (AKA girls in lingerie).  So this is the only picture we took of that because we spent the rest of the show trying to get out of the crowd and when that didn’t work we looked at the ground.   As we finally did walk away everyone was like “thats not the show it used to be…” So we weren’t the only ones that were surprised! I felt bad because there were a bunch of people with little kids and stuff that you could tell were really embarrassed.  I felt stupid that we were there too!   Alex’s quote from that was “when it is pirates vs. strippers nobody wins!”.  So true Alex!

Here we are playing with the camera self portrait setting while we wait for the volcano to erupt at the mirage!

Here’s our trip to Paris!  Just kidding…this is the casino Paris behind the fountains at Bellagio!

And finally, the best thing for Mormons to do in Vegas…go to M&M world!  4 floors dedicated to the making of delicious little chocolates!  They have a movie and a ride where they pretend you are a peanut being made into an m&m.

And the coolest thing was the wall of chocolate!  All the different colors you can think of!  They were like 14 dollars a pound so we didn’t actually buy any but it was cool to look at! Alex did buy a m&m flavored chapstick for Emmy and so she always smells like chocolate now! She was very excited!  And we got Kaylee’s Halloween costume there too…but you’ll have to wait for Halloween pictures to find out what it is!

Anyway, while there were some not so good things about Vegas there was also a lot of fun and free stuff to do there.  While we probably wont go back anytime soon it was fun to get away by ourselves for a little bit!

Biker Babes!

So when we were at Pizza hut for Alex’s Birthday they had a fake tattoo dispenser.  So Aunt Christina bought one for Emmy.

You don’t get to pick which one comes out so Emmy’s said “Sweet Love”!!  Even though it was funny, I wasn’t really thrilled with Emmy’s arm saying Sweet love…so Christina took that one and bought Emmy another one!  Emmy’s ended up saying “Together Forever”.  See, so it even ended up being really appropriate for church the next day!  🙂

Here is  a close up!  Emmy was so excited!  Now whenever she gets a stamp from school she calls it a tattoo.

WATER FIGHT!!!

One day when we were little my dad went to the store and got us all these supersoakers and to surprise us.  We ran around our yard and had a giant waterfight and it was really fun!  So my mom found them in the garage and brought them down to Los Alamos this year.  After we played tennis one morning we were all pretty hot so we decided to have a water fight in the back yard.  Our yard isn’t really that big so it was a pretty funny fight since there was really nowhere to run!

Emmy picks out her presents for Daddy’s bday!  So this year she had picked out a transformers supersoaker!! Since the rest of us were using 15 year old guns he by far had the best gun!  Emmy’s was also pretty new!  She got it from Max and Kath for Christmas!  I think that Logan and Josh might have got some too so next time they come we will have to let them all have a water fight so Emmy can pick on someone her own size! 🙂

Alex and Christian teaming up on Christina while Emmy cheers them on!

Alex trying to dump his entire tank of water on my dad!

I love Alex’s face in this one!  So determined!!

Doesn’t my little girl look cute with a giant gun in her arms! haha 🙂

Kaylee and I stayed safely on the steps with a camera for our shield!  My mom took this one for me!

Once I handed the camera to my mom I got pulled into battle!  (Also those sun glasses were found in the garage in Spokane!  My sisters and I all had a pair when we were younger!! Hot orange and hot pink are still sweet colors!)

Here’s  Grandpa and Kaylee minding their own business…

When all of a sudden a big bully comes and dumps water on both of them!! That crazy daddy!  Anyway, the water fight was just good clean fun!  🙂

Alex turns 28!

In the proud tradition of Alex’s birthday we all made our annual pilgrimage to Pizza Hut for the lunch buffet!  In attendance this year were: Alex, his dad, Ray, Christian, Aaron, Bill, Me, my mom, Christina, Emmy and Kaylee!  It was super yummy and fun as always!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!  Sorry it took me so long to post these pics!

Some people had already left when we took this picture but here are two tables of the crowd.  Alex and Christian had a pizza eating contest and you can see some of the plates stacked up on both tables!

Alex and his little girls! Happy Birthday daddy!!

So you may look at this picture and say “I didn’t know Julia had a ten year old son”.   Just kidding!  I made this cake for Alex’s birthday.   When he first got home he protested that he was a grown man and not a little kid…but you could see his eyes light up when he was saying it.  Then like 10 minutes later he said “too bad we didn’t have a Decepticon because then it could climb up the other side of the cake and they would look like they were going to battle”.  So grown man…little boy…you be the judge!  🙂 I love you Alex!

Here’s Alex with his cake!  Too bad he doesn’t like it at all!  haha!

Christina helped me make the spaghetti and meatballs for Alex’s birthday dinner!

Here’s Alex opening his brand new camera!! Our old one has been having a lot of problems so we upgraded!  The new one is great and really small!  It has been awesome to take in a purse or a pocket! Now that we take it all the time we have a ton of new pictures so I really need to catch up on the blog!

My parents got Alex this cooler for his birthday too.  But Emmy and Kaylee liked it even more than Alex!  Here they are playing in it.  What cuties!

Nobody has ever heard of a Kaylee in a box!

Lately Kaylee is much more interested in the boxes things come in than with the toys themselves!  I think she looks adorable in these pictures so I thought I’d share!  These were taken at my moms house one day in July!

This is back when Kaylee was still working on her first two teeth!  (Which are now very in and very sharp)  She would chew on everything…and everyone! 🙂

Trying to get her legs under her and situated so that she can stand up!  She worked really hard for about  5 minutes! She is very determined and really works through things without getting frustrated! It is fun to watcher her problem solve!

“I told you I could do it!!”  Both of my girls have no problem showing lots of pride in their accomplishments!

Finally Kaylee makes it out of the box and comes to rest with Emmy and Mommy on the couch!

Then she gets bored of just laying there so she goes over to Grandma!  Because everyone know grandparents are way more fun than moms and dads!

Then Emmy decides she wants a picture of her but she doesn’t want to get up off my lap…so this was my attempt at taking an in focus picture from 1 foot away!

And finally…Kaylee is back for one last shot at getting Emmy up to play with her…even if it means eating her foot!  I can’t stop laughing every time I see this picture…it just some how sums up her whole personality! What a funny kid!
