Gingerbread Row

We made gingerbread houses at Spokane one day. They are actually made of graham crackers, but they are still very fancy.

Julia made this modest house, and I was her contractor. I made the front door and fashioned the chimney from a white chocolate Kit Kat. Note that this is a somewhat smaller house, which means that we didn’t have to go into debt for it like Julia’s sisters.

Here’s a close-up of the fanciest door on the block.

Christina’s mansion has a penguin for a snowman and a drafty roof. The path didn’t last long because it was too tasty.

Annah’s house includes an even draftier roof. She cheated by using some cardboard for the walls. It didn’t taste very good.

Spokane City Landmarks

Downtown Spokane was the former host of the World’s Fair, and we like to visit some of the landmarks each year… the big giant wagon, the carousel, and the goat statue that sucks trash out of your hands. We didn’t take pictures of all of them this visit, but here are the block letters of Spokane and the Radio Flyer:

Once there was a snowman…

A week or so ago we made two new friends (and a dog). These friends were our snowman friends, and Emmy gave the baby one that Annah and Christina made a kiss.

Above are the snowmen and all the snowmen builders.

You’ll notice here that one snowman has a comb for a moustache.

A few days before we left, Mr. Snowman was leaning over toward the baby. The next day, he decided to take her out by falling onto her.

R.I.P., Mister and Baby Snowman, we barely knew ye…

Emmy Meets Santa Claus

[simage=248,400,y,center]

Emmy went to the Mall in Spokane to meet Santa Claus over our break. At first it was tons of fun and she was super excited, but then the terror struck: the little girl in front of her was afraid of Santa. Oh no! What should she do? That’s right. She should cry… and cry she did. Poor girl! Maybe next year…

Emmy’s Christmas Card

This year Emmy was the star of our Christmas card – this is the picture we used! She very much enjoyed this outfit, especially because she could point at the Reindeer toes, one of which has a red nose like Rudolph!
