A Day at Chamberfest

While mommy was shopping for all the food for our church’s girls camp, the girls and I decided to check out the annual Chamberfest here in town. We had a lot of fun at the bounce house (all four girls loved it!), the car show, the sand pile, cotton candy, and especially the bubble pit.

So our preferred mode of transportation is in our Graco double stroller. We parked pretty close, so we didn’t do a ton of walking, but when they all rode together (like they did for most of the car show), Leah and Mayzie ride in their seats like normal, Emmy hangs out in the bottom basket, and Kaylee rides on the handle and faces back toward me. We got quite a few comments and even more looks riding around that way and even got someone from the Daily Post that took a picture of us at one point. One of the questions the photographer was sure to ask was if they were all my kids. 🙂

The thing I love about Chamberfest is that a lot of it is geared for kids. Businesses from town handed out things like frisbees, light-up yo-yos, silly putty, color-changing cups, sunscreen, water, and more. The girls all loved the bounce house, but the girls’ favorite activity was either the sand pile (just a bunch of sand dumped out in the middle of Central Avenue, which was closed to cars) or the bubble pit, which was also free (and run by some of our friends who also run the bounce house). Anyway, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves from here. Many of the car show pictures were taken by our lovely photographer Kaylee, who likes to get her fingers in most of the shots. 🙂

  1. Way to go! The more the merrier! Glad you are able to get everyone going and have a good time. Love you

  2. This is awesome!! Love the DeLorean. And I bet Abby would also vote the purple car as her favorite. Look at that awesome, huge pile of sand! FUN!! And the bubbles — great way to clean up after the sand. 🙂 Leah and Mayzie have come a long way since Jungle Jim’s if they braved the bounce house and liked it!! And I can just picture you loaded up with kids in the double stroller — that’s awesome.

Sidenote: is Leah’s hair getting curly like Emmy’s?? FUN!! Out of all the kids she looks the most like you, I think. (Funny because I thought she looked like Christina or Bruce when she was littler.) (Then again, Drew suddenly looks like the boy-version of Abby, whereas just ten days ago he was totally Josh all over again.)

Second sidenote: Can you teach me (or maybe Nathan) how to set up email subscriptions on my blog?? I think my inlaws would appreciate that. (Though do the pictures come through?? Dad forwarded it to me — or maybe Mom did on Dad’s account — and I didn’t get the pictures until I came to your website.)

Third sidenote: You emailed me, and I don’t know the answers to the questions you asked (re: baby blessing), so I haven’t emailed back. Working on it.

  3. Oh man that looks like fun, Alex!–especially the bubble pit. So glad Julia got some time to shop in peace:). You are a superdad! We need more posts like this!

  4. So yes, Leah’s hair is definitely curly, especially when it’s wet. It’s kind of interesting right now since it has grown in at different lengths.

To set up email subscriptions, I use the Jetpack plugin, which is from the company that sponsors WordPress (they kind of created the company to support WordPress, now they make add-ons and provide support). With Jetpack you need a wordpress.com account. It’s all pretty easy to set up.

I was a little jealous of the girls that were playing with the bubbles. We would have stayed longer if the twins weren’t getting hot. Luckily they escaped without a sunburn or getting too thirsty thanks to the free sunscreen and water from LANB and Zia Credit Union.
