From the mouth of babes…

So today we went to the children’s museum and we had a lot of fun!  But unlike on Reading Rainbow you ARE going to have to take my word for it because I forgot my CAMERA!! Anyway, without the pictures it’s pretty much just words…blah blah blah!  So, I will quickly tell you what we did and follow it up with some funny stories…so hang in there…

1) We went to Kohl’s (how unlike me) with Kath and I actually got to try a few things on since she played with the girls! Thanks Kath! 2) A quick trip to Trader Joe’s to buy some delicious apple bars, potato gnocchi, and ginger cats.  It had been awhile since I’d been there and Emmy’s snack cupboard was pretty bare.  3)We walked around UNM campus and bought Alex’s graduation robes!  Good thing he’s getting his master’s so he can wear black robes instead of bright Lobo red. 4) Children’s museum- totally awesome!  Giant blocks, musical instruments, a pool full of bubbles!  Toddler heaven!  She loved it! We were there for 2.5 hours and she still couldn’t get enough!

Anyway, thanks for reading the random things we did today…now as promised some funny stories.

So the other day Emmy was eating dinner and all the sudden she started counting in spanish.  She counted from 1 to 5. She’d never done that before and we were pretty impressed so we asked who taught her that.  (I was pretty sure it was from Dora).  She sat there and thought for a couple seconds then she got really exctied and said “Jesus”.  Looks like her primary teachers are doing their job!

Then, a couple days later we were sitting at the table again and this time she started singing a song she made up.  It went like this “Daddy looks like mommy, mommy looks like Kaylee, Kaylee looks like Papa, Papa looks like Aunt Beth, and so on using every person she knows (literally).  Until finally someone looked like Emmy.  Then she stopped and said “Emmy looks like a diamond ring!”  Which I thought was random…so I asked her where she got that idea from.  Then she yells at the top of her lungs “FROM CHINA!”   What a smart alek!  Seriously, who does she think she is, Michelle Tanner!

Kaylee’s Blessing!

Kaylee Maria Baker was blessed March 29th, 2009 in Los Alamos New Mexico by her dad!  It was a great day!  My mom and Christian were down for spring break and Beth and her family drove down for the weekend.  So Kaylee had both sets of Grandparents, all of her cousins, and most of her aunts and uncles here.  Alex blessed her and one of the ladies in our ward who writes short hand copied it down for us (what a nice gift!).  The circle also included Max (Grandpa), Nathan (uncle), Keith Morgan (friend), and Josh Miller (friend) and Bishop Betts (bishop).   After church we had a family lunch and celebrated!

Kaylee is already 3 months old so I was a little worried the dress would be too small…but it fit great and she looked adorable!  Look at her big blue eyes!

undefined

These booties are gorgeous but Kaylee only keeps socks on for about 2 minutes.  Luckily Beth got a picture before Kaylee kicked them off!

undefined

Logan saying good morning to Kaylee before church!  Kaylee got tons of compliments on her bonnet.

undefined

Here’s Kaylee and her Daddy all ready for their big day!  This dress is the same dress that Emmy and I were blessed in.  It’s on loan from my mother.  So far all of her grandchildren have been blessed in it (Emmy and Kaylee) 🙂

Emmy wasn’t really in a picture taking mood but we managed to wrangle her into a few of them anyway.  Here we are after church!

Kaylee and her proud parents.

The whole gang

undefined

Kaylee kept sticking her hand on Emmy’s face when we were trying to get a picture of the two of them.  Emmy and Kaylee both thought this was hilarious!  Kaylee was even giggling!

Kaylee with Grandma and Grandpa Layman!

Naps all around!

In the words of Emmy, “UNCLE WAY!!!!!”

Uncle Christian wearing his Gonzaga Bulldogs shirt and holding his newest niece!

undefined

All the cousins!  It took 4 adults to get this shot together but it worked!  I was very impressed and it turned out really cute!  Emmy loves to hold Kaylee’s hand in all the pictures.

undefined

“oooh cake…”

undefined

“Just a little closer…”   SUPER BABY!

undefined

So for those of you into decorating cakes…here is a pic of Kaylee’s cake.  Alex bought me a cake decorating kit for Christmas and I finally got to try it out!  The booties are made out of 3 marshmallows.  Two standing up for the heels and one cut in half and laying down for the toes.  Then I just piped lines of frosting on them to make it look like crocheted booties.  I liked the design because Kaylee’s Grandma Baker knits all kinds of things for her family and friends!

Emmy makes a pretty cute biker chick! Logan, Ray and Emmy- born to be wild!!

Don’t I have a cute husband??  Thanks for giving Kaylee such a nice blessing and happy day!

SPRING BREAK!!!

So this was Alex’s last spring break…EVER!! He graduates in May! Woohoo!  Anyway, we decided that since it was his last we should actually do something.   We decided on going to Phoenix for spring training and to see my mom’s side of the family!  We had a great time!  Some of the highlights include my Grandma’s B-day party, playing with family, seeing my college roomie Kasey and her family, a trip to IKEA and of course seeing the Royals stomp on the Dodgers! BAM!  It was definitely a full trip but so worth it!  Here are some pictures!

undefined

Alex and Emmy at the Royals/Dodgers game!  Alex bought the girls some royals shirts while we were there…I will have to take some pictures of that sometime!

undefined

GO ROYALS! They won by a lot…I don’t remember the score anymore…but it was a lot…

undefined

Here is Emmy and Carson playing with Emmy’s doll stuff!  Carson was also very nice and let her play with his trucks and farm!

undefined

This is my college roommate, Kasey.  We visited with them and went to Red Robin! Yum!

undefined

It was my Grandma’s Birthday while we were there so most of my mom’s family got together at a park for a birthday picnic.  It was great because we got a chance to see a lot of my cousins, aunts and uncles!  Here is a pic of my cousin Joanne and me.

undefined

This is my cousin Stacy and me!  Her daughter is about the same age as Emmy so we went over to Stacy’s house and let the girls play together for a bit!

undefined

Here’s Ashlyn and Emmy together!  We had gone out to dinner with Stacy and Chet the night before and Emmy and Ashlynn had been holding hands…so we had them recreate it the next night when we had our cameras because it is really cute!

undefined

Me, Kaylee and the Birthday Girl!  Kaylee loved the warm weather while we were there because she didn’t have to be bundled all the time!  She loved kicking her legs and being able to look around!

undefined

Here we standing outside my Aunt Cindy’s house before church.  I like this picture because it has palm trees in it!  We drove past two nurseries that sold palm trees and I really wanted to get one…just to see if it would survive in Los Alamos.  But seeing as it’s already snowed here TWICE since spring break…I guess it was for the best that Alex said no way!

undefined

My grandma’s birthday was actually on Sunday so we snuck out of church early to go visit with her (don’t tell anyone or I’ll get kicked out of my calling…actually on second thought…Just kidding)  Anyway, we had a great time visiting with her and Emmy showed her the new tea set she got from IKEA.  Emeline is actually named after my Grandma’s mother, Julia Emeline (but she went by Emeline).  (I am named after her too…in case you didn’t pick that up!)

undefined

Emmy LOVED eating at the counter in my Aunt’s house.  She got to sit up on a tall stool and it made her feel like a BIG girl.  Anyway, she was being a total ham the morning we left so I took a few shots!

undefined

Emmy and Alex enjoying some rice krispies and Cap’n Crunch!

undefined

Emmy had a total love/hate relationship with my aunt’s dogs!  In fact Emmy just walked in and so I will write what she is saying!  “There are my friends!  Daddy and I go throw balls to doggies.  Tilly and Max!”  She was really afraid of them when we first got there but she worked on it each day and was finally down on the ground playing with them by the time we went.   One minute she would want them locked outside and the next she would want to hug them!  She had a lot of fun throwing the ball to them!

undefined

And finally, here is my Aunt Cindy who was nice enough to let us stay with her!  I meant to take a picture with her and my uncle Lee…but I forgot!  I am not so great at remembering to get out the camera!  But I did remember to take one before we left!  We had a great time!!  It was snowing just over the N’mex border so we almost turned around!  We will have to visit again!
